Workstream
SENIOR BRAND DESIGNER
Workstream is a tech startup specializing in assisting “deskless” entrepreneurs in job recruiting and onboarding platforms. I was brought onto Workstream’s marketing team as their Senior Brand Designer to establish a playful, well-rounded brand identity and apply it to marketing, sales, and product across the company. Because Workstream was a young start-up, we often were all-hands-on-deck and I designed for their marketing needs, including paid marketing, trade show assets, and deliverables used by sales to bring in new customers.
Even though my time at Workstream was cut short due to layoffs, I was able to use the time I did have there to design a brand style guide, create a standardized illustration style, collaborate internationally with our product design team to create consistency across their app, and provide art direction for events. I have since been hired to do freelance design work for their brand team.

Brand Imagery Direction
Workstream had its beginnings in 2017 and largely maintained a small team to build and sale their platform. In early 2022, they invested in a marketing team, including a creative director and my brand designer position. In this position I was tasked with updating their stock illustrations and photography, as well as creating consistency in the brand’s typography, colors, and overall visual voice.
Workstream’s target audience was largely franchise owners and general managers. Because of this, I needed to create tech-themed graphics that weren’t too “corporate Memphis” – something elegant but up-beat. These graphics would largely be applied to their digital assets such as ad campaigns, social posts, and blog posts. Additionally I created event collateral and printed mailer designs.

Custom Illustrations
Workstream’s Creative Director encouraged me to design and draw sets of illustrations to give personality and connection to the marketing material and product design. They were both people- and product-centered. I created sets of people to represent the customers we served, as well as spot illustrations for the platform. I then fleshed out the illustration’s logic in the Workstream brand guide.
